The Trackpaw System
The Trackpaw system combines sensor technology and machine learning to monitor the weight, behaviour and general well-being of research animals during preclinical experiments. Each animal is tracked individually.
Introducing a new way of monitoring preclinical studies
By combining machine learning and sensor technology, we can identify specific behaviours of individual animals in their home-cage environment 24/7. In the future, the technology will be able to recognise various signs related to alterations of health conditions or be used as a biomarker in preclinical models.
When abnormal activity and/or weight alteration is detected, the user receives a notification. With this the research team will not waste time or lose valuable data. Instead, they will gain critical information to enhance their findings and speed up the research process towards reaching planned study goals.
Hardware
The Trackpaw system is placed on the cage floor and does not interfere with bedding, enrichment or feeding utilities in the cage. It can be seamlessly integrated with any pre-existing workflows, rack systems and cage environments.
The data is wirelessly transmitted to a server which makes our solution easily scalable.
Software
The platform can be used both as an intelligent surveillance system in the preclinical research setting. The platform triggers an alarm when the animal is displaying anti-social behavior or declines rapidly in weight, and as an advanced tool for longitudinal weight monitoring and behavioral analysis. Behaviors that can be tracked and analyzed using the Trackpaw system include disease markers, movement patterns and social behavior.
Features
The Trackpaw system is inserted into the animal home cage environment and does not interfere with bedding, enrichment or feeding utilities in the cage.
Seamless integration
Mapping and categorizing weight, activity, and behavioral changes for use in daily care management or as a biomarker of treatment effect in disease models, safety pharmacology and toxicology.
Animal welfare monitoring
Two modes of action
The platform offers two distinct modes to cater for a wide range of applications. Users have the option to engage in prolonged monitoring of research animals, ideal for behavioral studies. Alternatively, users can choose the alarm system mode, designed to promptly notify them of either desired or undesired behaviors, as well as any adverse events occurring in the cage at any given moment.
